Framitulle Prescribing Information:
Framitulle is a sterile, lightweight,
lano-paraffin gauze dressing impregnated with Framycetin Sulphate
B.P 1% (Soframycin). Uses: Framitulle has a wide range of
antibacterial activity as is an ideal dressing for an immediate use
in variety of infected lesions. Themal: Burns, scals.
Traumatic: Lacerations, abrasions, bites, puncture wounds, crush
injuries. Ulcerative: varicose, diabetic, decubitus and
tropical, Elective: Skin grafts, avulsion, of figure and/or
toe nails, circumcision, suture lines. Miscellaneous: Secondary
infected skin conditions (e.g. eczema, dermatitis herpes zoster),
colostomies, ileostomies, tracheotomies, incised abscesses, incised
perionychia. Dosage and Administration: if necessary , the
lesion should be first cleansed, then a single layer of Framitulle
applied and covered with suitable dressing. When dressing ulcers,
the tulle should be shaped to fit the ulcer crater. If the lesion
exudes profusely it is available to change the dressing at least
once a day. Contraindications, Warnings, etc: Framitulle is
contraindicated where there is known allergy to lanolin or
framycetin sulphate, or where organism are known to be resistant to
the later. Precautions: Cross sensitization to framycetin may
occur in patients known to be allergic to Streptomycin derived
antibiotics ( neomycin, paramomycin, kanamycin). Inmost cases,
absorption of antibiotic is negligible. However, where large body
areas are involved e.g. 30% or more body burn, the possibility of
ototoxcity being produced by prolonged applications should be borne
in mind.

paper aluminum foil wrapped packs of 10 units: each
unit pack contains one sterile antibiotic gauze dressing10cm x 10cm
placed between two layers of parchments. Further information is
